2006. 1. 13. 23:46

Another extra give a win to Orioles... (HH2004) 야구2006. 1. 13. 23:46

Second consecutive games they was headed to extra time after their opening for 2006. But this time it is shorter than the first game. Starting pitchers of two teams were Barry Zito and Daniel Cabrera, Zito was prominent pitcher who had been a rotation leader before Martinez arrived at Bay area, while Cabrera is just blossoming his potential. Many people focus on these two pitchers, especially Cabera because he is under instruction of Mazzoni who was came from Braves after contract with them was expired. What shape it will be coming of Mazzoni's magic?

As a result, first start of Cabrera was very impressive, shut the door against very strong line-up. Oakland hitters are the most powerful and always big threat to any pitcher. He only gave up 3 runs in 7th innings and he fanned 6 times, including 2times from Delgado, 2times from another Cabrera, Miguel. He allowed only 5 hits and had really good outing in his first appearance.

First score came from A's. In 3rd inning, Brian Roberts walked, and then Scott Posednik who was the hero the day before, hit score-driven double. He tried to make it triple and he was out between 2nd and 3rd. There's no out, so that out was too disappoint thinng for Oakland. Later, on 5th inning, Orioles collected several hits effectively to reverse the game and took a 2-gap lead. But A's had not done yet, they added each one score in sixth and seventh to be even. It bacame a battle for bullpen. A's three relief pitchers followed after Zito was out. R. Rincon and H.Street were perfect for one inning, respectively and then in 9th inning, Jeremy Bonderman came out on the mound. Orioles never withdrawed, sending their closer to the stage. But bonderman was a little out of control and at last can't last the game to 11th inning.

Even though A's lost the game with close rally, manager Kan Macha looked good and smiled all through the interview. He said that he doesn't be worried about their hitting and he think their pitching did their job very well as he expected.

"I am really satisfied with our starting and bullpen for just two games. Our hitters are a kind of slump and but I don't think it's serious. Just starting the season, they are doing adjustment to their roles and new team and league. We are not setting the goal for April, but for the end of the season, actually October. "
