미들 인필더편은 자이언츠편부터 들어갑니다. 오마르 비즈켈과 레이 더햄의 콤비입니다. 개인적으로 더햄같은 경우엔 부상만 없으면 리그수준급 2루수라고 생각하는데, 둘다 건강한 시즌을 보낼 수 있느냐가 역시 변수일 듯 합니다.

캐리비안 시리즈에서 제가 관심을 갖고 있는 양국가인 푸에르토리코와 베네주엘라가 격돌을 했는데, 6-1로 베네주엘라가 승리를 했네요. 스쿠타로가 만루홈런을 쳤습니다. 베네주엘라는 2경기에서 23득점, 2실점을 했네요..(첫경기 맥시코를 상대로 17-1). 베네주엘라와 도미니카공화국의 경기가 흥미로울 듯 싶습니다.

Vizquel, Durham provide dependability and experience

SAN FRANCISCO -- Sportswriters are a jaded lot, and after witnessing thousands of baseball games, it takes something -- or someone -- unique to catch their attention.

Depth at first contrasts fewer options across the diamond

KANSAS CITY -- It's a matter of extremes on the infield corners for the Royals. At first base, the cabinet is well-stocked. At third base, the selection is thinner.

You want first basemen? You got 'em with Mike Sweeney, Matt Stairs, Doug Mientkiewicz and Justin Huber.

조 란다와 1년 계약을 했고, 잭 윌슨 역시 계약이 1년 남았기 때문에 산체스가 잘해준다면 내년에는 주전자리를 차지할 수 있을 듯해 보입니다. 무엇보다 지금보다는 좀더 파워풀했으면 싶습니다.

새로운 감독인 짐 트레이시가 말이 많고 이야기하는 걸 좋아하는지는 몰랐네요.. 덕분에 선수들은 주로 트레이시의 말을 듣게 된다고 하는데, 잘못하면 잔소리가 될텐데요-- 여튼 맥클렌던이 떠나고 트레이시가 온건 환영할만하지 못하지만, 경험을 바탕으로 무언가 좀 해주길 기대해봅니다.

What role will Freddy Sanchez play in the Bucs lineup?

To answer your second question first, Josh, I think that the Pirates will carry 12 pitchers once again this season. The primary reason for this is because the Bucs will have a relatively inexperienced starting rotation made up of guys who have not proven that they can give their team six innings just about every time they take the mound. And with a 12-man staff, the Pirates will have enough arms in the bullpen to absorb the extra innings if their starters have a string of short outings.

Giants rely on youngster at first base, veteran at third

SAN FRANCISCO -- Every player wants to prove he's an everyday Major Leaguer, and second-year first baseman Lance Niekro will definitely get his chance.

Chavez an 'All-Star-type player in his prime'

OAKLAND -- Eric Chavez led the 2005 A's in a slew of offensive categories, including hits, runs, home runs, doubles, RBIs, walks, extra-base hits, total bases and sacrifice flies.
