Watching Baseball 야구2006. 6. 18. 16:38
For now this year, I didn't watch any MLB game as a full game. Today I spent a lot of time, maybe 4-5 hours, watching MLB game, Oakland A's vs LA Dodgers. Since 1998 when I got interested in baseball first time, I have had some teams as my favorite ones such like Seattle Mariners, SF Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and so on. But those teams didn't satisfy me 100 persent. So, finally I selected Oakland A's.
A's has some attractive things that drive me of rooting. First, It is small-market team. Their franchise city is Oakland City of California right beside San Francisco which is the 7th biggest city in USA. Since 2000, They have been always 1st or 2nd place in the division, went to the playoff two or three times depite of earning a little income. But, they are in small city, so they couldn't bring a lot of people to the stadium as much as other big-market teams. So, they couldn't earn much money and hold the star players in the team after player certified FA right.
A's GM Billy Bean is very smart and good at managing the club. He succeed some trades and drafts to keep his team remain strong. Many high-expected young players are here in the club. So future has been always bright.
This season, they retook first place again in June and are considerd as contender in the league. That was reason thing that A's is attractive. I like to watch young player improve their baseball skills and grow as a main key players of the team. So, the team is good for me to root and watch. Furtheremore, I like the logo and uniform of the club.
In the 9th inning, there was only one out left for A's win. But, against Huston street, Oakland closer who didn't fail to close game for last 8 games, Dodgers' hitter Rafael Furcal got a walk and didn't let the game close. Next hitter Kenney lofton hit triple scoring Furcal and making the game tie after sticky confrontation with Street.
This game lasted until 17th inning when Bobby Crosby got a walk-off walk from Seo of Dodgers pitcher, who was born in Korea. That was a little disapointment for me because Seo was on the mound whom I root for. But A's winning was my wish. Watching baseball today after a long time is interesting and another peaceful break for the weekend. I like this time.
My fantasy team players were three there in Oakland starting lineup, Eric Chavez, Dan Johnson, Nich Swisher. Bobby Crosby also is in my team, but I put him on the bench for today last night. They all didn't play well and couldn't meet my level for the game. Sincerely I wish A's is gonna win the World Series this year and I am gonna keep watching their fighting.
