A's got 17th win... (HH2004) 야구2006. 6. 18. 10:56

Pedro Martinez, who is been one of the best pitcher in baseball history for several years, had another brilliant pitching tonight. In his 6th start, he faced Texas Rangers, one of the best batting team in the league, in Arlington Ball Park, Rangers home stadium.
Before the start tonight, Pedro did QS 5 times in his former 5 starts this year. Tonight, his lone bad pitching was the ball that was hit by Kevin Mench. That's home run and unique run from the Rangers. Pedro gave up only 4 hits and no walk, one run. He fanned 7 batter, throwing 8 innings.
His ERA is 1.47 now, leading the league and this win is just 3th one for him. For batting, Miguel Cabrera and Eric Chavez hit back-to-back home runs in the 6th inning against Rangers starter Pedro Astacio. Both of them were 8th for Cabrera and Chavez, which is the most in the team.
After the game, Pedro got interviewed about the game and the life in Oakland.
"Firts time when I got here, Only thought I had at that time was that I wanted to be here for a long time. Moving from one place to another place is not easy stuff for players and I already moved several times. About changing the league, I had no problem and no anxious about that because I had played for Boston a few years ago. And really I want to get the ring in my carrier again and this year will be another chance to me. We are strong and are ready to win.
Tonight, I didn't take big mistake so I am satisfied with my pitching. The ball was hit home run by Mench was miss pitching. It should have taken out to the outside but I want to praise Mench's batting. That pitch was a little down, he didn't skip my mistake and wind which blowing strongly to the fence should be the help to make that ball home run. I am happy about getting the win tonight, but I don't care about my individual winning counts. More important thing is that we won tonight, went one step forward for the final goal."
A's won 17th, solidifying their 1st place in the division.
