피츠버그의 외야수편입니다. 무엇보다 제이슨 베이가 지난해와 같은 포스를 계속 이어가준다면, 케이시,버니츠 영입이 어느정도 효과를 보면서 나름대로 짜임새있는 타선이 될텐데요. 베이의 활약이 관심이 갑니다. 버니츠에 대해서는 글쎄요.. 크렉윌슨이 부상의 여파가 있긴 하지만, 윌슨보다 업그레이드 되었다고 볼 수 있을지는 모르겠습니다. 여튼 리틀필드는 말처럼 선수층의 깊이 면에서는 보탬이 될 듯 합니다.

Emerging superstar Bay leads skilled group of players

Pirates general manager Dave Littlefield can't help but like the outfield he has assembled.

As Littlefield peruses his roster, he sees an emerging superstar in left field, a dazzling rookie with speed to burn in center field and a veteran slugger who should enjoy depositing laser beams over and off the Clemente Wall in right field. The Bucs GM also looks at his bench and sees a pair of former starters with 20-plus home run power.

He also ranked among the top 10 hitters in the National League in batting average, runs, doubles, hits (183), walks (95), multi-hit games (54), total bases (335), on-base percentage (.402) and slugging percentage (.559).

In November, Bay was rewarded for his efforts with a four-year, $18.25 million contract extension.

The addition of Burnitz allowed the Pirates to move Craig Wilson and Jody Gerut to reserve roles, giving the Bucs a powerful lefty-righty combination off the bench.

He appeared in just four games with the Pirates after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs in a trading deadline deal last July.
