OK, crazy question: Why don't the A's trade Bobby Crosby to the O's for Miguel Tejada, with the O's assuming half of his salary? The O's would pick up an up-and-coming shortstop to fill Miggy's spot at a fraction of the cost, and the A's would get their "Favorite Son" back at a discount. The A's would benefit because they would get a slugger that isn't as injury prone as Crosby, and the O's would be able to move their disgruntled player in exchange for a team player/Rookie of the Year shortstop. A guy can dream can't he?

You're right, Woody, that's a crazy question. As great as Tejada is, there's just no way in the world the A's would give up a 25-year-old (Crosby turns 26 on Jan. 12) superstar-in-training who will make a paltry average of $3 million a year over the next four years.
